2023-04-21 Sparrows and Grosbeak

These pictures aren’t great, but today we saw a white-throated sparrow and a female rose-breasted grosbeak. We don’t see them very often, usually only in the early spring and sometimes in the fall.

2023-05-15 House Wren in Bluebird Nest Box

This is our first year that we have observed house wrens in our backyard and we were worried that they would take over the bluebird nest boxes that we put up on our fence. And it happened!   But on a positive note, we haven’t seen the bluebirds recently so we believe that the baby bluebirds that we heard in the nest box were able to leave the nest.  We cleaned out the wren’s dummy nest and are hoping that we see the bluebirds again. From what I’ve read, it’s not unusual for bluebirds to raise more than one brood per year. House Wren
