American Goldfinch on sunflowers

So glad that the American Goldfinches stuck around all summer. They are beautiful birds and the coloring is especially striking against sunflowers. 

The first picture was taken with an iPhone so the quality isn’t as good, but I really liked how the sunflower plant was glowing from the sunlight.

This is our first year that we have observed house wrens in our backyard and we were worried that they would take over the bluebird nest boxes that we put up on our fence. And it happened!   But on a positive note, we haven’t seen the bluebirds recently so we believe that the baby bluebirds that we heard in the nest box were able to leave the nest.  We cleaned out the wren’s dummy nest and are hoping that we see the bluebirds again.
