Goldfinches are getting their summer colors

We had a lot of male goldfinches today and one in particular had lost all of its gray winter coat. It was beautiful, especially when it caught the sunlight just right.

2023-05-15 House Wren in Bluebird Nest Box

This is our first year that we have observed house wrens in our backyard and we were worried that they would take over the bluebird nest boxes that we put up on our fence. And it happened!   But on a positive note, we haven’t seen the bluebirds recently so we believe that the baby bluebirds that we heard in the nest box were able to leave the nest.  We cleaned out the wren’s dummy nest and are hoping that we see the bluebirds again. From what I’ve read, it’s not unusual for bluebirds to raise more than one brood per year. House Wren
