Goldfinches and other birds in the first snow of the winter.

We had our first snowfall this winter and I was hoping to get a good picture of a cardinal and a chickadee but it didn’t happen. The goldfinches were very busy on the tube feeder and I also got some decent pictures of a downy woodpecker and a Titmouse. Also included a bonus picture of our snow covered pecan tree. The snow was very wet and stuck to every branch.

2023-05-15 House Wren in Bluebird Nest Box

This is our first year that we have observed house wrens in our backyard and we were worried that they would take over the bluebird nest boxes that we put up on our fence. And it happened!   But on a positive note, we haven’t seen the bluebirds recently so we believe that the baby bluebirds that we heard in the nest box were able to leave the nest.  We cleaned out the wren’s dummy nest and are hoping that we see the bluebirds again.
