Northern Flicker
I don’t know how common the Northern Flicker is but I have never seen one before today. Hopefully we will see more. According to allaboutbirds.com, the Northern Flicker can climb up the trunks of trees and hammer on wood like other woodpeckers, but it prefers to find food on the ground. The markings on the Northern Flicker are very distinctive.
